Kazakhstan to host International Biology Olympiad for the first time

Kazakhstan is to host its first-ever International Biology Olympiad (IBO) in July this year, Kazinform News Agency reports.

Team Kazakhstan has claimed a total of over 70 medals, including two gold, 20 silver and 54 bronze ones, at the International Biology Olympiad throughout 28 years.

According to the country’s enlightenment vice minister Yedil Ospanov, four students are to represent Kazakhstan at this year’s competition.

The International Olympiad in the capital is to welcome 305 students and 275 supervisors from 81 countries. To meet the competition’s requirements, organizing and scientific committees, www.ibo2024.kz website have been set up. Equipment and devices to hold theoretical and practical rounds were obtained at the expanse of sponsorship funds. Up to 80 volunteers are to assist during the event, said Ospanov.

The competition’s participants are to be offered a tour of attractions of the capital and Akmola region as well as familiarized with the history and national art of Kazakhstan.

Noting the significance of the international event, Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Tamara Duisenova gave a number of instructions to the responsible state authorities regarding the holding of the Olympiad.
