Kazakhstan to increase production of uranium in 2015

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstan will increase production of uranium in 2015 compared to 2014, Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Vladimir Shkolnik informed at enlarged sitting of the Ministry today.

"The volume of uranium production made 22.8 thousand tons in 2014, which is 109.5% against 2013. This year, we plan it to be on the level of 24 thousand tons," he told.

The minister also emphasized that the country has an opportunity to process 3 thousand tons of uranium into 300 tons of fuel for nuclear power plants. This amount is enough for 15 such stations.
