The big Kazakh language model KazLLM, similar to ChatGPT, which is currently under development in Kazakhstan, will run on a paid subscription, said data analyst Madina Abdrakhmanova, deputy director for foreign affairs of the Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI) at Nazarbayev University, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.

The big Kazakh language model KazLLM aimed to revolutionize AI potential in Kazakhstan and Central Asia is under development with the financial support of Astana Hub, endowment funds of Nazarbayev University and Nazarbayev Intellectual School, and ISSAI Social Development Fund.

To achieve greater use, ISSAI is to offer paid subscriptions to the platform for general users as well as a dedicated applied programming interface for advanced users with the possibility to integrate the models into their products.

The model is being created not just for research purposes, but to serve as a full platform with the ability to communicate. The platform will be similar to ChatGPT, where one could search different queries, said Abdrakhmanova.

The first-ever big Kazakh language model KazLLM is slated for launch on December 16, 2024, marking the 33rd anniversary of Kazakhstan’s independence.

In December this year, the model to be presented will be able to recognize texts and generate them. Next year, more features, including the ability to recognize visual information, will be added, should we ensure additional funds, said Abdrakhmanova.

According to her, the big Kazakh language model KazLLM will integrate Turkic languages in the future.

Given the multinationalism and multiculturalism of Central Asia, more languages are to be added so as nationals of other countries could benefit from using it, added Abdrakhmanova.

Earlier it was reported that the Kazakh-language smart assistant Umay similar to Alisa and Alexa was created in Kazakhstan.
