Kazakhstan to 'pass the baton' of CSTO chairmanship to Kyrgyzstan

Issues of military cooperation improvement and the CSTO military component strengthening, directions of collective emergency response were discussed at the meeting.
"We have done a lot to strengthen military cooperation between the army forces of the CSTO member states. Kazakhstan makes every effort to develop the military component of the CSTO. Further cooperation will contribute to the strengthening of international security," Chairman of the Council of Defense Ministers A. Dzhaksybekov told.
In addition, the Council of Defense Ministers discussed the issue of the transfer of chairmanship to the defense department of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The joint meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers, Ministers of Foreign Affairs and the Committee of Secretaries of Security Council of the CSTO has become part of the summit of the leaders of the CSTO, EurAsEC and the Customs Union.
