Kazakhstan trained 4,500 nuclear power specialists since 2000

Currently, 921 students are pursuing degrees in nuclear power engineering in Kazakhstan, deputy head of the higher education and postgraduate studies Gulzhan Dzarassova told a briefing, Kazinform News Agency reports.

She reminded that at the meeting of the National Science and Technologies Council held on April 12, 2024, the Head of State tasked to develop the national model for training engineering personnel taking into account international standards and expertise.

Currently, 921 students are pursuing degrees in nuclear power engineering in Kazakhstan. Of which 96% received state grants. Over 1,800 students graduated in the past three years. Above 4,500 received diplomas in nuclear power engineering since 2000, she said.

She noted the branch of the Russian National Research Nuclear University (MEPhI) opened at the Al Farabi Kazakh National University. Besides, the consortium of universities of Germany started training nuclear power engineers at the Yessenov University. To note the Anhalt University branch was unveiled last year at the Daukeyev Almaty Power Engineering and Communications University.

Gulzhan Dzharassova added relevant ministries and organizations, including KazAtomProm, established close cooperation for the training of specialists at the ground of six universities across Kazakhstan.

As written before, Kazakhstan set up the Nuclear Physics Development Council.
