Kazakhstan transfers $1mln to Palestinians

Kazakhstan provided $1 million in humanitarian aid to Palestinians, Aibek Smadiyarov, official spokesperson of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry said, Kazinform Agency correspondent reports. 

Given the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, Kazakhstan decided not to stay aside and provide the Palestinian people with humanitarian assistance worth $1 million. Such a decision was stated by Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during the OTS Summit in Astana.

The funds were already transferred to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), providing emergency and other assistance to the Palestinians.

Smadiyarov also said that the humanitarian activity is a key direction of Kazakhstan’s foreign policy.

Earlier it was reported that 76 Kazakhstani nationals are staying in Gaza.
