As part of his working visit, Kazakh agriculture minister Aidarbek Saparov addressed the Chamber of Trade and Industry of Türkiye, where he spoke about the opportunities for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation, Kazinform News Agency cites the press service of the country’s agriculture ministry.

Over the past few years, there has been steady growth in trade figures between our countries. In 2023, the agricultural trade turnover rose 13% and stood at 325 million US dollars, said Saparov.

Kazakhstan traditionally exports lentils, cotton fiber, grain, legumes, gluten and others to Türkiye.

It was noted that in Türkiye, trade bans were in place for livestock products from Kazakhstan for around 20 years over restrictions regarding animal diseases. However, they were lifted in June 2024 thanks to active negotiations.

In turn, Türkiye exports to Kazakhstan fruits and nuts, chocolate and confectionery, seedlings, hatching eggs and so on.

Türkiye has advanced technologies and experiences in the field of agricultural processing and is our key partner, stated the Kazakh minister.

Saparov pointed out that six projects worth 53 million US dollars have been successfully carried out in Kazakhstan with the participation of Turkish investors. Currently, 10 more investment projects to the tune of 553 million US dollars are being carried out.

Kazakhstan is ready to create comfortable conditions for Turkish investors and enhance cooperation in implementing joint projects in the agro-industrial complex, said Saparov.

During the meeting, documents worth 2 billion US dollars and trade contacts on meat imports for 80 million US dollars were signed. It was noted that the documents are aimed at cooperation in construction of vegetable storages, agro-service enterprises, agricultural processing plants as well as exports of livestock products to Türkiye.
