Kazakhstan, U.S. to expand coop between law-making agencies

ASTANA. November 29. KAZINFORM Majilis Speaker of Kazakhstan Nurlan Nigmatulin met with Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs of the U.S. Wendy Sherman on Thursday (November 29) in Astana.

The chamber's press service reported, during the meeting the sides noted the Kazakh-U.S. relations were based on mutually profitable and equal partnership, including the counteraction to modern threats. The meeting focused on the problems of regional and global security as well.

Nurlan Nigmatulin stressed that key initiatives of President Nazarbayev allowed Kazakhstan to participate in the development of sustainable system of international security, especially in the CA region.

Expansion of ties between the law-making agencies of the two countries was also touched upon at the meeting. "It will only strengthen the partnership between Kazakhstan and the U.S.," they concluded.
