Kazakhstan, UAE to sign treaty on mutual protection of investments

ABU DHABI. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates are to sign a treaty on mutual protection of investments, the press service of the Kazakh Embassy reported following the meeting of Kazakh Ambassador to the UAE Mr. Kairat Lama Sharif and Dr Anwar Gargash, minister of state with the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The sides agreed to continue preparations for the signing of a number of important bilateral documents, including the intergovernmental agreements "On encouragement and mutual protection of investments", "On cooperation in the sphere of tourism", and "On international transportation of passengers and cargo". According to the press service, the interlocutors exchanged views on possible dates for holding of the 6th session of the joint Kazakh-UAE Intergovernmental Commission in Astana. Currently, the Kazakh-UAE partnership is underpinned by a solid regulatory framework of more than 40 documents that cover basically all spheres of the bilateral cooperation. Kazakhstani diplomat briefed Dr Anwar Gargash on Kazakhstan's foreign policy concept for 2014-2020. He also pointed out the two countries enjoy strong political ties promoting great strides in commercial and economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
