Kazakhstan undisputed leader of global anti-nuclear movement - Japan

ASTANA. August 6. KAZINFORM In Hiroshima the Kazakh Ambassador to Japan Akylbek Kamaldinov has attended the 68th memorial ceremony in memory of victims of the atomic bombing of Hirosima.

In addition, he participated in the World Conference against Atomic and Hydrogen Bombs, as well as in the 8th General Conference of the International Movement of "Mayors for Peace", in which there was also the Akim (Mayor) of Semei city Aibek Karimov, the press service of the Foreign Ministry informs.

During the opening ceremony of the World Conference Mr. Kamaldinov delivered a special message from the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.

"For Kazakhstan closing the nuclear site was a historic act of manifesting will and wisdom, confidence in the future. We have shown the path to a safer world " the message says.

During the above activities the members of the Kazakh delegation headed by Ambassador held a series of bilateral meetings, including the talks with the newly elected president of the House of Councilors of the Japanese Parliament, Mayor of Hirosima, the president of the movement "Mayors for Peace", the mayor of Nagasaki, Chairman of the Foundation of Culture and World of Hirosima and etc.

August 9 the head of the Kazakh diplomatic mission will be taking part in a peaceful ceremony in memory of victims of the atomic bombing of other Japanese city - Nagasaki.

Kazakhstan is known in Japan as the undisputed leader of the global anti-nuclear movement which makes an invaluable contribution to regional and global security.
