Kazakhstan welcomes breakthrough in Russia-NATO relations - President
ASTANA. December 1. KAZINFORM /Maria Peshkova/ The situation in different parts of the world predetermines in many ways the energy and economic security of Europe. This has been shown by the emergence of the global financial economic crisis. Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev has said it making a welcome speech at the plenary session of the OSCE Summit in Astana.
"Eurasian security is not a metaphor, it is a strict geopolitical fact. Therefore the Summit in Astana is an ideal opportunity for us to analyze the way forward for the OSCE in building global security. In our view the OSCE in the coming decade is to address the contradictions and build security and trust in integration within intergovernmental configurations."
"In the East-West configuration we need to build cooperation between the European Union and NATO and between the EurAsEC and CSTO. Kazakhstan thus welcomes the breakthrough in the relations between the Russian Federation and NATO", N. Nazarbayev added.
