MINSK. February 7. KAZINFORM Kazakhstan will intensify trade and economic cooperation with Belarus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Belarus Anatoly Smirnov said in a meeting with President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko; Kazinform refers to BelTA.

Anatoly Smirnov worked in Belarus for three years and is now completing his term of service in the country. During this period the relations between Belarus and Kazakhstan have advanced significantly across all areas, especially in trade and economy. Anatoly Smirnov stressed that despite the global crisis, the two states have done a lot in order to maintain economic cooperation at the previous level.

The Ambassador of Kazakhstan also underlined that both states actively develop contacts in the humanitarian area, implement a cultural cooperation program.

In terms of export, Kazakhstan is third largest partner of the Republic of Belarus among CIS countries (after Russia and Ukraine). Belarus considers Kazakhstan as a foothold for building up export to Central Asia countries; Kazinform cites BelTA.
