Kazakhstan wraps up ASBC Asian Elite Men and Women Boxing Championships 2024 with 20 medals

Kazakhstan earned 20 medals at the ASBC Asian Elite Men and Women Boxing Championships 2024 which wrapped up in Thailand, Kazinform News Agency reports.

Kazakhstan was represented by 13 strongest boxers, 9 of which cruised into the finals of the Asian Men Boxing Championships.

Saken Bibossinov (51kg), Biibars Zheksen (60kg) and Mukhamedsabyr Bazarbayuly (63.5kg) wrapped up their performance without medals.

Yerassyl Zhakpekov (80kg) was defeated by Turabek Khabibullaev of Uzbekistan, securing a bronze medal at the tournament semifinals.

The winners of the ASBC Asian Elite Men Boxing Championships include Makhmud Sabyrkhan, who claimed first gold in the 54kg weight class, Bekzad Nurdauletov, Sagyndyk Togambay, and Aibek Oralbay, who also captured gold in the 54kg, -92kg, and +92kg weight categories, respectively.

Sanzhar Tashkenbay, Orazbek Assylkulov, Dulat Bekbauov, Ablaikhan Zhussupov, and Dias Molzhigitov all collected silver in their respective weight classes.

12 female boxers represented Kazakhstan at the Asian Women Boxing Championships.

Kazakh female boxers, including Viktoriya Grafeyeva (60 kg), Aida Abikeyeva (63kg), Natalya Bogdanova (70kg), Gulssaya Yerzhan (81 kg), and Eldana Talipova (+81kg) took home gold.

Aigerim Sattybayeva (48kg), Zhazira Orakbayeva (52kg), Ulzhan Sarsenbek (57kg), Milana Safronova (66kg), and Diana Magauiyayeva (75kg) claimed bronze in their respective weight categories. Alua Balkibekova (50kg) has withdrawn from the competition due to health problems.

Thus, following the results of the ASBC Asian Elite Men and Women Boxing Championships 2024, Kazakhstan bagged nine gold, five silver and six bronze medals, which allowed it to occupy second spot in the overall standings. The leader of the tournament is Team Uzbekistan, which grabbed 11 gold medals.

Kazakhstan took first place in the women's event, while the male team earned second spot, following Uzbekistan that pocketed eight gold, two silver and one bronze medals.
The gold medalists of the ASBC Asian Elite Men and Women Boxing Championships 2024 received $8,000 each. Silver medalists earned $4,000 each and bronze medalists were awarded $2,000 each.

The ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships was initially scheduled to be held in Amman, Jordan. However, 20 days before the start of the event, Thailand was announced as the venue, where the championships had previously been held in 1963, 2015 and 2019.
