The issue of effective English language teaching in Kazakhstan remains relevant. This was discussed two years ago at a meeting of the Kazakh-British Intergovernmental Commission. A specially created working group conducted scientific research and presented its recommendations. One of them was the in-depth study of advanced British methods to ensure the continuous professional development of local teachers.

"The experience of our British colleagues is undoubtedly recognized worldwide. We came to gain new insights from them and find ways to solve our own challenges," said Aliya Chokusheva, head of the School Education Committee of the Ministry of Education of Kazakhstan.

The delegation of 22 people included both university leaders and rural teachers. The inviting parties were the UK's Department for International Trade and the British Council. They organised panel discussions on continuous professional development, along with visits to schools and universities.

"The UK adheres to strict global standards in teacher training. We place great emphasis on continuous professional development and are ready to share this knowledge with our Kazakh colleagues," noted Dr. Liviu Matei, head of School of Education, Communication and Society at King's College London.

During the visit, special attention was given to issues of teacher certification, organising professional development courses for them, and supporting school principals and methodologists. To learn the principles and practices of continuous professional development, Kazakh educators established close ties with their British colleagues.
