Kazakhstani lawmakers to consider new Civil Procedure Code

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - A draft of the Civil Procedure Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan has been presented at Majilis, lower chamber of the Kazakh Parliament, today.

The Civil Procedure Code was developed by the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan. "The need to adopt the new Civil Procedure Code is dictated by the fact that the previous one has been endorsed in 1999," said Rakhmet Mukashev, the chairman of the Committee for legislation and court reform, introducing the draft at the plenary session on Thursday. In his words, the old Civil Procedure Code was called to create market relations and attract foreign investments. "However, it is crystal clear that amendments should be made to the current legislation given further development of market relations, inflow of foreign investments and development of information technologies," he stressed.
