Kazakhstan's Rakhat-Bi Abdyssagin nominated for award from Worshipful Company of Musicians in London
Kazakhstan’s composer and pianist Rakhat-Bi Abdyssagin has been nominated for one of the oldest British awards – the Silver Medal of the Worshipful Company of Musicians of London, Kazinform News Agency cites the Center for International Programs.
The ceremony of awarding is to take place on November 13, 2024, in London.
Established in 1350, the Worshipful Company of Musicians is among the oldest guilds. The Silver Medal is the Company's oldest award and was inaugurated in 1889. The Medal was originally established as an annual award to the most distinguished student of the leading conservatoires of Great Britain.
To note, Rakhat-Bi Abdyssagin staged his opera The Bruce at the Glasgow Cathedral on February 17. The world premiere, dedicated to Stotish King Robert the Bruce and based on John Barbour’s poem The Brus, is part of the doctoral study of Rakhat-Bi, as the Kazakhstani pursues his PhD degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland under the Bolashak program.
