Kazakhstani schoolchildren scoop medals at Open World Astronomy Olympiad
A team of Kazakhstani schoolchildren participated in the II Open World Astronomy Olympiad collecting both gold and silver medals, Kazinform News Agency cites the press service of the Kazakh Enlightenment Ministry.
The event brought together schoolchildren from 14 countries.
Kazakhstan’s Damir Alenov earned gold, while Akhmadzhon Tabarov, Bekassyl Eleubai, Ualikhan Kylyshbek and Zangar Sunnatov settled for silver medals.
During the Olympiad that took place in Russia its participants had to solve 97 tasks. They also worked with star charts, processed data and performed analyses and prognoses. Many tasks featured references to scientific publications that participants would be able to read after the Olympiad.
