Kazakhstani Svetlana Podobedova wins 'gold' in Guangzhou
BEIJING-GUANGZHOU. November 19. KAZINFORM /Ruslan Suleimenov/ Kazakh sportswoman Svetlana Podobedova won a gold medal in weightlifting in the category up to 75 kg at the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou.
She totaled 287 kg and ensured the first place far ahead of Chinese weightlifter Cao Lei who had 265 kg in total. Kazakhstani Tatyana Khromova won a bronze medal with 250 kg in total.
On the same day Kazakh swimmers won 'bronze' in 4x100 meter relay behind Japan and South Korea.
It moved Kazakhstan 2 places up in the medal standings. Now it ranks 7th. Kazakhstan has now 26 medals: four gold medals, seven silver and 15 bronze ones. China is first with 203 medals in total and 109 gold ones. South Korea and Japan are second and third.
