Kazakhstani tennis player defeats silver medalist of 2020 Tokyo Games

World No. 121 Mikhail Kukushkin of Kazakhstan advanced to the Cary Tennis Classic quarterfinals in the USA, Kazinform News Agency cites the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation (KTF).

Mikhail Kukushkin defeated World No. 99 Aslan Karatsev of Russia with a score of 7-6 (7-2), 3-6, 6-1. The Russian tennis player secured the silver medal in the men’s doubles at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Kukushkin will clash with world No. 113 Mattia Bellucci of Italy in the Cary Tennis Classic quarterfinals.
It bears to remind that Kukushkin skyrocketed in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Singles Rankings. He climbed 13 spots in the updated ATP Singles Rankings, securing 121st line.
Another Kazakhstani tennis player Beibit Zhukayev ranked 218th failed in the Cary Tennis Classic qualifications. He was stunned by Argentine Federico Agustin Gomez with the score 3-6, 4-6.
