Kazakhstani universities improve, retain standing in global rankings

The Kazakh Ministry of Science and Higher Education has named the Kazakh universities that have been awarded the highest global rankings, Kazinform News Agency reports.

On June 5, 2024, the QS Quacquarelli Symonds published a new edition of the QS World University Rankings 2025. Kazakhstan is represented in the rankings by 21 higher education institutions. Five of them improved their positions, four maintained their positions, and 12 fell in the rankings. Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi has retained its position as the leader among Kazakh universities and has returned to the top 200 higher education institutions in the world, landing the 163rd place. This represents an improvement of 67 positions compared to last year's result.

The L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University (up from 355th to 321st place) and Satbayev University (up from 481st to 405th place) have also seen improvements.

The ministry reports that Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University has also improved its standing. The remaining universities retained the last year’s positions.
