Kazakhstani women’s contribution to GDP makes 40% - G.Abdykalikova

"Presently, over 4.5 million women build the Society of Universal Labor on equal terms with men. The majority of them are self-employed. Women's contribution to the GDP formation reaches 40%," G.Abdykalikova said at the 3rd Eurasian Women's Summit, the Kazakh PM's press service said.

She also noted that Kazakhstan climbed up to the 31st place in the rating of the world countries in terms of gender equality that was published by the analytical group of the world economic forum in late October this year.

Speaking of the women's participation in the political life of the country, Gulshara Abdykalikova told about the gender statistics, according to PM's website.

Thus, according to her, the number of women in the Majilis of the Kazakh Parliament increased 1.4 times and made 24%. The number of women heading executive agencies increased as well.

As earlier reported, the 3rd Eurasian Women's Summit takes place in Astana. Over 350 participants from different regions of the country and delegates from Qatar, Israel, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Bashkortostan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan take part in the event.
