Kazakhstani Yuriy Polskiy named president of Asian Tennis Federation
Kazakhstani Yuriy Polskiy has been elected the president of ATF (Asian Tennis Federation) for the next four years. The election took place on Tuesday during the ATF Annual General Meeting in Bangkok, Kazinform News Agency cites the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation.
There were three more candidates from Thailand, Japan and Sri Lanka for the post of ATF president. During the election, Yuriy Polskiy received the highest number of votes with a significant advantage of 34 out of 55 votes.
After becoming the ATF President, Yuriy Polskiy also took over the Board of Directors of the Asian Tennis Federation, where he had served as Vice President for the past four years.
The key factor in the election was the reforms that the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation has been consistently implementing for the last 16 years. This experience is shared by the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation as part of regional initiatives, and similar transformations are planned in the countries of the Asian region, which offers a huge potential for the development of tennis in 44 nations.
