Kazakhstanis positive over election results

ASTANA. February 4. KAZINFORM Shortly after the parliamentary elections in Kazakhstan as of 15 January 2012 the Institute for Social and Political Research conducted an opinion poll, which lasted six days on January 25-31.

The poll surveyed 1200 respondents from all regions of Kazakhstan and the cities of Astana and Almaty. 80.7% of respondents answered "Yes" the question "Do you support the results of the parliamentary elections?" As expected, the majority of respondents - 79.5% - have a positive attitude to the fact that three political parties will be in the Majilis of the Parliament.

Many Kazakhstanis expressed their positive opinions towards the multiparty Parliament. The question "What effect will the new Parliament have on the country's development?" 40.5% of respondents answered the new Parliament will have positive effect on the people's welfare; 18.8% are confident the new parliament will positively influence the development of democracy in Kazakhstan.
