Kazakhstan’s Aktau, Vietnam’s Da Nang establish twin-city relations
From January 16 to 18, the city of Danang in Vietnam is holding the Friendship and Cooperation Cities Forum 2025, Kazinform News Agency learned from Mangistau region’s administration.
As part of the event, the cities of Aktau and Da Nang signed a memorandum of establishment of twin-city relations, on the initiative and in line with the Kazakh President’s instruction set during his official visit to Vietnam on August 22-23, 2023.
The delegation of Aktau was welcomed in Da Nang by city Mayor Lê Trung Chinh and Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Vietnam Kanat Tumysh.
The Kazakh delegation led by Mayor of Aktau Abilkair Baipakov, with the support from Mangistau region’s Governor Nurdaulet Kilybay, visited the city of Da Nang to hold talks with the municipal authorities.
The abovementioned agreement is called to give an important impetus to Aktau city’s socio-economic development. The memorandum provides for strengthening twin-city relations and cooperation between the two cities in such spheres as trade, economy, investments, transport, logistics, tourism and cultural-humanitarian cooperation.
As part of the visit, the sides discussed the possibility of launching direct flights between Aktau and Da Nang in the foreseeable future.
During the Friendship and Cooperation Cities Forum 2025, the city of Da Nang signed two agreements on establishment of twin-city relations with Kazakhstan’s Aktau and Italy’s Genoa.
In general, Da Nang maintains twin-city relations with 50 cities from 24 countries.
Earlier, it was reported that Kyrgyzstan launched direct flight to Vietnam's Phu Quoc.
