Kazakhstan’s Altynkol, Dostyk stations to double throughput capacity
This was said by the country’s transport minister Marat Karabayev during a government session Tuesday, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.
According to the ministry, Kazakhstan has 27 railway border checkpoints. Of these, Altynkol, Dostyk and Saryagash railway stations in the direction of China and Central Asia run at full capacity.
To improve their capacity, measures are ongoing to construct additional tracks and parks, expand inspection units and terminal capacities. These measures will allow to double the throughput capacity of Altynkol and Dostyk stations, said the minister.
Earlier, Karabayev spoke about the renovation of the fleet of passenger railroad cars, with 118 new ones bought in 2023 and 143 purchased in 2024. 226 passenger railroad cars are set to be acquired in 2025, he revealed.
