Kazakhstan’s grain exports to China grow by 5.7 times
For the past three years Kazakhstan’s grain exports to China grew by 5.7 times, Kazinform News Agency reports.
Central Asian countries, Afghanistan, Iran and China remain conventional marketing outlets for Kazakhstani grain and its derived products, the Kazakh Agriculture Ministry said.
Since the beginning of the year 551 express freight trains loaded with grain left for China, Turkmenistan, Iran, Russia and Uzbekistan and 31 more transported grain inside Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy data shows.
For the first eight months of 2024 grain shipments by rail surpassed 5.4 million tons, including 4.2 million tons for exports. 2.3 million tons of grain products that is 17.4% more compared to the same period of the previous year were transported by rail. Exports of milled products rose by 20% to reach 1.8 million tons, domestic transportation grew by 9% up to 500,000 tons.
Shipments of farm products via the Aktau port tripled to hit 90,000 tons this September. In October it is predicted to soar as high as 212,000 tons.
