Kazakhstan’s industrial output stood at over KZT23trl in half a year

Kazakhstan’s industrial production index was at a level of 102.8% in January-June 2024, the National Statistics Bureau said, Kazinform News Agency reports.

In particular, production growth was observed in mining and quarrying – 0.3%, manufacturing – 5.1% and supplies of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air conditioning – 6.1%.

By regions, the industrial production growth was the highest in Aktobe, Karaganda regions and the city of Astana.

According to the data, in January-June this year, the country’s industrial output stood at 23,495.4 billion tenge, including mining output – 10,744.3 billion tenge (45.7% of the total output) and manufacturing output 10,967.4 billion tenge (46.7%).

It was pointed out that quarrying output growth was attributable to increased production of natural gas, metal ores and mining services.

As for manufacturing, production of chemicals was up 5.3%, basic pharmaceuticals – 14.8%, metallurgy – 8.3%, fabricated metal products, except for machinery and equipment, - 30.3%, mechanical engineering – 9.4% and other manufactured products – 1.8fold.

Growth in supplies of electricity, gas and hot water was due to increased volumes of production, transmission and distribution of electricity by 7.1%, gas fuel via gas pipelines by 7.7%.

Collection, treatment and distribution of water was down 1.3%, as well as waste collection, treatment and disposal, material recycling – 1.8%.

Countrywide, 15 regions recorded growth in production output, while Atyrau, Zhambyl, Kostanay, and the cites of Almaty and Shymkent reported decline.
