Kazakhstan’s installed power capacity exceeds 700MW in 2024

Kazakhstan added over 700MW of generating capacity to its power grid in 2024, Kazinform News Agency cites the press service of the country’s Energy Ministry.

According to the ministry, this was achieved through commissioning the Ekibastuz GRES-1’s power unit No.1 with a capacity of 500MW, replacing the 65MW turbine unit No.6 at Atyrau thermal power plant, 43MW boiler unit at Zhezkazgan thermal power plant as well as launching renewable energy projects with a cumulative capacity of 163.35MW.

Earlier it was reported that Kazakhstan attracted 327 billion tenge in investments in the energy sector.
