Kazakhstan’s jet with humanitarian aid lands in Afghanistan
The jet carrying the first batch of humanitarian aid from the people of Kazakhstan to quake-hit Afghanistan has landed at an airport in the Afghan city of Herat, Kazinform Agency reports.
The Y8F200W jet crew traveled 1300 km to deliver six tons of humanitarian aid from Astana, Almaty and Shymkent cities.
Pilot in command Kurmangali Topanov said this is not the first time Kazakhstan delivers humanitarian aid. He reminded of several jets with humanitarian aid sent to Syria and Türkiye stricken with the devastating quakes this February.
“The flight to Herat took about three hours to perform. The humanitarian aid has been successfully delivered,” he noted.
A representative of the Afghan side emphasized that Kazakhstan was the third country to deliver the humanitarian aid after Iran and Türkiye and expressed gratitude to the people of Kazakhstan and President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for lending a helping hand in such difficult times.
He also emphasized that residents of 13 settlements in Herat province devastated by the earthquake are in desperate need of tents and medicines.
It bears to remind that the area where the Kazakhstani rescuers are working around the clock has been hit with another quake at around 5:00 am local time earlier this morning. The first deadly 6.3-magnitude earthquake hit Herat province on October 7 killing 2,053 people and injuring over 9,000 people.
