Kazakhstan’s main New Year tree lit up in capital Astana
Over a thousand people packed the territory of Astana Arena stadium on Wednesday evening for the annual New Year tree lighting in the Kazakh capital of Astana. This year’s New Year Tree is 25 meters high, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.
This year’s New Year tree stands out due to its natural shape and is decorated with lights on its sides, around 3,000 toys and a lot of garlands, said Yelnar Bazyken, deputy director of Astanagenplan.
This year's ceremony, which started at 8 p.m., was hosted with plenty of entertainment available, including ice rinks, slides and photograph spaces.
To note, New Year trees were lit up simultaneously in six areas of Astana, which add up to a total of over 30 New Year trees set to light up in the Kazakh capital.
