Kazakhstan’s Nedovyesov and Ecuadorian Escobar lift Sofia Open doubles title

Kazakhstan’s Aleksandr Nedovyesov paired with Ecuadorian Gonzalo Escobar claimed the Sofia Open doubles title, Kazinform News Agency cites Sports.kz.

In the final the Kazakh-Ecuadorian tandem eliminated the third-seeded British Julian Cash and Croatian Nikola Mektic 6-3, 3-6, 13-11. The match lasted for one hour 28 minutes.

36-year-old Nedovyesov is the high-ranked doubles tennis player in Kazakhstan as he is currently ranked 46 in the ATP Doubles Rankings.

Another Kazakhstani Andrey Golubev also played at the tournament together with his doubles partner Ukrainian Denys Molchanov. The Kazakh-Ukrainian duo were routed by Aussie Max Purcell and John-Patrick Smith in the quarterfinals. Later Nedovyesov and Escobar sent the Australian duo home defeating them in the semis.
