Kazakhstan’s rice imports from Russia grow fourfold in a year

Kazakhstan’s rice imports from Russia increased from 4,300 in 2022 to 17,500 tons in 2023, Kazinform News Agency reports referring to the Kazakh Agriculture Ministry’s press service.

Russia leads in rice imports followed by India with 4,800 tons and Pakistan with 2,600 tons delivered to Kazakhstan last year.

Besides, Kazakhstan imports rice from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, and Italy.

Notably, Kazakhstan produced 213,400 tons of rice in 2022, and 205,100 tons in 2023. Rice prices rose by 38.4% on average compared to the last year with the average price settling at 487 tenge per 1 kg.
