Kazakhstan's vision of strengthening international peace and security presented at UN Human Rights 75 high-level event
Chairperson of the Constitutional Court of Kazakhstan Elvira Azimova participated as a speaker in the Leaders’ Segment of “The Future of Human Rights, Peace and Security” high-level roundtable meeting dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human rights held in Geneva December 10-13, Kazinform News Agency reports.
Elivira Azimova presented Kazakhstan’s vision of strengthening the international peace and security through the prism of human rights.
In her speech, Elvira Azimova outlined three key factors of ensuring peaceful and sustainable development:
- Protection of fundamental rights and freedoms of each individual
- Rule of law for political stability, economic and social progress, which "forms the basis of people’s access to quality governmental services, fight with corruption, prevention of abuse of authority, and establishment of dialogue between the people and the state."
- Commitment of each participant of international relations to the goals and principles of the UN Charter.
She also shared Kazakhstan’s experience of peace and tolerance promotion by means of political reforms, aimed at improvement of each citizen’s wellbeing.
Elvira Azimova highlighted that Kazakhstan is the country committed to peaceful settlement of disputes, calling on for a dialogue, with a true desire to contribute to peace and security, and providing a negotiation platform for the parties of a conflict.
The Chairperson of Kazakhstan’s Constitutional Court became the only speaker from the region participating in the UN Leaders’ Segment.
First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Kairat Umarov also attended the event. On the margins of the high-level meeting, he held a number of bilateral meetings with the leaders of the World Health Organization, International Labour Organization to discuss the current issues of bilateral cooperation and promising areas of interaction.
