Kazakhstanskaya Pravda newspaper celebrates its 105th jubilee

Astana held research to practice conference dedicated to the 105th anniversary of Kazakhstanskaya Pravda republican newspaper, Kazinform News Agency reports.

According to Director General of LLP Qazaq Gazetteri Dikhan Kamzabekuly, the newspaper has passed a long way since its first release on January 1, 1920 under the name of Izvestia of the Kyrgyz Region. In 1932, the newspaper was renamed as Kazakhstanskaya Pravda.

Dikhan Kamzabekuly noted that in the 20-30s  of the last century, Mikhail Zoshchenko, Olga Forsh, Konstantin Simonov, Alexey Tolstoy, Sergey Mikhalkov, Konstantin Paustovsky, Olga Berggolts, Pavel Kuznetsov closely collaborated with the newspaper.

He said that during the Great Patriotic War, many KazPravda employees went to the front. Some of them did not return. At that time, the luminaries of Kazakh literature and science - Mukhtar Auezov, Zhambyl Zhabaev, Kanysh Satpayev, Gabit Musrepov, and Sabit Mukanov contributed to the newspaper. The newspaper published the works by Bauyrzhan Momyshuly, Dmitry Snegin, Malik Gabdullin, Syrbai Maulenov, Zhumagali Sain.

He stressed that over a century, Kazakhstanskaya Pravda has remained the largest republican edition, employing top-level professionals, patriots of Kazakhstan, committed to continuing the best traditions of domestic journalism.

The conference participants discussed the role of print media in national idea formation, the objectives of modern journalism amid digitalization and the importance of print media for intercultural dialogue strengthening. Although print media experiences difficult times today, it continues to be an important source of information preserving traditions and culture.

In their opinion, it is through books, newspapers, and magazines that information literacy, education, and culture of a person are formed. Therefore, the traditional newspaper format not only remains, but continues to develop and be popularized in a number of countries.

Those attending the conference were the Parliament deputies, representatives of government agencies, public activists and journalists.

State Counselor Erlan Karin, Majilis Speaker Erlan Koshanov, Senate Chairman Maulen Ashimbayev, Chairperson of the Constitutional Court of Kazakhstan Elvira Azimova sent letters of congratulation to the newspaper staff.
