?Kazatomprom? ready to start uranium supply to India
ALMATY. February 3. KAZINFORM /Daniyar Sikhimbayev/ ?24 nuclear power stations are scheduled to be built in India by 2020?, President of ?Kazatomprom? National Atomic Company Mukhtar Dzhakishev has said today at the press conference, Kazinform reports.
It is expected that six stations will be built by Russia, others will be constructed by ?General Electric?, ?Areva? and ?Westinghouse? companies. According to M.Dzhakishev, uranium supply to India can be started this year, after signing of the Agreement on peaceful usage of atomic energy between the countries. The Agreement can be signed within a month.
During the official visit of the Kazakh President to India, ?Nuclear Power Corporation of India? LTD and ?Kazatomprom? National Atomic Company? JSC signed an agreement on mutual understanding.
The Agreement reflects interests of both companies on mutual cooperation in different fields, including extraction and supply of natural uranium, supply of Kazakh uranium products by means of fuel pellets for Indian atomic energy and training of the personnel.
