ASTANA. KAZINFORM - KazEOSat-1 (Kazakhstan Earth Observation Satellite) recorded natural disasters.

May 10 KazEOSat-1 snapped pictures of Calbuco volcano in Chile which is one of the most active volcanoes in the south of the Chilean Andes (the last eruption took place April 30, 2015) from space. According to the National Service of Geology and Mining of Chile, the area near the volcano is marked with red level of danger which is the highest. People from settlements near the volcano were urgently evacuated. According to experts, the seismic activity of Calbuco will last for several weeks. May 13 KazEOSat-1 snapped pictures of wildfires in Buryatia (Russia). More than three thousand hectares of forest is on fire. More than five hundred people and over one hundred pieces of equipment have been involved in fighting wildfires in Buryatia. The region has entered emergency mode.
