Kazkosmos holds international conference dedicated to 50th anniversary of first human space flight

ASTANA. January 6. KAZINFORM /Sara Kabikyzy/ A two-day international conference entitled Space for Mankind's Benefit - Looking into Future has kicked off in Astana today. The event is held under the aegis of Kazkosmos Agency and is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the flight of the first human Yuri Gagarin into outer space.

As the press service of Kazkosmos Agency informs, the conference was organized by the National Center of Space Research and Technologies JSC and the Eurasian National L. N. Gumilyov University. Over 200 delegates from Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, France, Germany, China and Japan are expected to take part in it.

The goal of the conference is defining the major directions of cooperation of the participating countries in scientific, educational, production and space development spheres, search for most effective ways of interaction.

Welcoming the participants, Chairperson of Kazkosmos Agency Talgat Mussabayev noted the special role of the first cosmonaut of the Earth in development of world space sciences. "This date will be marked worldwide and in Kazakhstan where the first launching site is located", he said.

Speaking on the objectives of the Agency concerning formation of the country's space development sector, the Chairperson of Kazkosmos said that Kazakhstan had already set to implementation of five large-scale space projects under the Forced Industrialization Program. Their successful realization will require close cooperation and integration of various countries and enterprises.
