KazTransOil to pay KZT 9 mln. for oil spill in Atyrau

ASTANA. July 5. KAZINFORM - Atyrau transport prosecutor's office charges 9 million tenge (KZT) from the western branch of "KazTransOil" JSC for the damage caused to the environment.

According to Atyrau transport prosecutor Bolat Kalykov, the incident occurred on June 5. In the oil pipeline called "Prorva - Kulsari" relating to Kulsarinskiy oil pipe management, western branch of KazTransOil, there was a leak of oil. Only on the surface of the earth there were more than 100 tons of oil. Total area of contaminated area was 3,213 square meters.

"The prosecutor's office is taking steps to order the collection of KZT 8.7 million from the western branch of KazTransOil, that is equal to the damage caused to the environment," said B.Kalykov.

Also according to the consideration outcome of the public prosecutor's supervision regulations the State Environmental Inspector has brought to administrative responsibility 3 officials who were fined for more than KZT 400 thousand.
