KHANGELDY SYRYMBETULY
KHANGELDY SYRYMBETULY (1688/90-1760/63) – one of the famous batyrs, who struggled against the Dzungars. He was from the Alban tribe of the Great zhuz.
Khangeldy is a famous batyr of his time. He communicated with wise and authoritative rulers of the Great zhuz. He headed the army in military campaigns. He was notable for his bravery in the battles against the Dzungars for release of Ayaguz, Tessiktas. Together with elder son Tleuke and grandson Raiymbek he participated in the battle against the Dzungars.
Together with other authoritative people Khangeldy actively promoted joining of the Kazakh people of the Great zhuz to Russia. In 1733 together with Tole bi and batyrs Satai and Bolek they wrote a letter to Russian queen Anna Ioannovna, expressing a will to join Russia.
Khangeldy demonstrated outstanding diplomatic skills in reaching international agreements.
