KHL: Barys will have to beat the best to move closer to Gagarin Cup

In the last game of the first round of the KHL playoff series in the Eastern Conference HC Salavat Yulaev defeated HC Torpedo from Nizhniy Novgorod 4:3 in Ufa. That means the Astana club will have to beat one of the best clubs in the league to advance in the playoff series. Earlier, HC Barys wrapped up the first round of the playoff series with a 4-0 blanking of HC Avtomobilist from Yekaterinburg. The first Barys vs. Salavat Yulaev match is set to be held in Astana on March 21.
