KMG, CNPC discuss key areas of cooperation
Kazakhstan’s KazMunayGas National Company and China’s CNPC discussed the key areas of cooperation in oil and gas sector, including geological exploration, petrochemical industry, oil processing and oil transportation, Kazinform News Agency reports citing the Kazakh company's press service.
The issues were discussed at a meeting held on October 17 between Askhat Khassenov, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC NC KazMunayGas, and Chen Huailong, recently appointed CNPC CEO for Central Asia and Russia.
Askhat Khassenov thanked the former management of the Chinese company for a long-standing contribution to the bilateral relations strengthening and welcomed the CNPC’s new CEO for the region.
The sides noted that CNPC was a strategic partner of Kazakhstan and expressed confidence in successful continuation of joint projects.
Earlier, on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Astana, KMG and CNPC signed a framework agreement on deepening the strategic cooperation in oil and gas industry.
It was also agreed to hold the Kazakh-Chinese technical workshops on exchange of exploration technologies and development of oil and gas fields. This year, the workshops will be held in Kazakhstan’s Kyzylorda city.
CNPC (China National Petroleum Corporation) is a leading oil and gas company of China established in 1988. The company specializes in oil and gas exploration and extraction, oil processing, petrochemical production, and sale of oil products.
