KMG denies reports on sale of share in Atyrau Oil Refinery to Chinese company

JSC NC KazMunayGas commented on the reports on possible sale of a 50% stake in the Atyrau Oil Refinery to China’s Sinopec, Kazinform News Agency reports.

“KazMunayGas does not confirm an intention to sell a 50% stake in the Atyrau Oil Refinery to Sinopec,” the company said in a statement on June 29.

KMG added that during the working visit of a Sinopec delegation to the Atyrau Refinery on June 12, the parties exchanged experience and recommendations on raising the plant’s operational efficiency.

“There was no talk about selling a share of the Atyrau Oil Refinery,” KMG press service said.

“KMG does not also confirm receipt of any requests and proposals from the Sinopec on the sale and cost of participating interest in the Atyrau Oil Refinery,” the company noted.
