KOIGELDY SARTULY
KOIGELDY SARTULY (1702-1795) – one of the commanders, who earned fame in the liberation struggle against the Dzungars. He is from the Dulat tribe of the Middle zhuz.
He studied in a madrasah in Bukhara. And in 10 years Koigeldy became a man of education.
Koigeldy?s life is closely connected with head of the Great zhuz, famous bi ? Tole bi. Koigeldy was his reliable partner in military campaigns.
Koigeldy earned fame as a batyr. He killed nine Dzungarian batyrs. Becoming a commander, Koigeldy expressed talents of a leader.
In famous Anyrakai battle he participated with two brothers Kozhyk and Aksha and son Karabatyr. Aksha killed some enemies and Kozhyk was a bannerman of the Great zhuz?s army.
In the Soviet period the batyr was charged with looting the Russian caravans. This influenced the destinies of Koigeldy?s descendants, who were repressed as enemies of the people and were shot.
Koigeldy batyr died at the age of 93 and was buried in Turkestan.
