Konayev and Alatau towns contribute to Almaty region development, governor

The budget of the Konayev town grew fourfold against 2021 to exceed 37 billion tenge, Almaty region governor Marat Sultangaziyev told a briefing at the central communications service, Kazinform News Agency reports.

He said Konayev and the newly established town, Alatau, became the points of growth in the region’s development.

For the past three years, Konayev focused on improving its engineering infrastructure. 133,000 square meters of housing were commissioned, and a 900-seat school was built.

He said the construction of two world-class hotels will start next year to help develop the region's  tourism infrastructure.

The governor said the budget of Konayev rose fourfold compared to 2021 to make 37 billion tenge.

He also reported on Alatau town set up this January 9 by the President’s decree. He noted the special economic zone Alatau, the largest zone in Central Asia by size, ranks among the world’s top three economic areas.

As previously stated, the share of small and medium businesses in the gross regional product of Almaty constitutes 45%, Almaty region governor Marat Sultangaziyev told a briefing at the central communications service.
