Korea transfers the right to host 2014 Global Forum on E-Government to Kazakhstan

ASTANA. October 24. KAZINFORM - Korea has transferred the right to host the Global Forum on E-Government in 2014 to Kazakhstan, according to the web-site of the Prime Minister.

Kazakhstan and South Korea have agreed to strengthen cooperation in the field of development of e-government. According to the signed letter of intent, the cooperation between the two countries involves the exchange of experience and knowledge in the field of e-government, organization of joint seminars and round tables, exploring new opportunities for collaboration and close cooperation in the conduct of the Global Forum.

By the decision of the UN, due to the rapid development of e-government of Kazakhstan, as well as high performance of the country in the international ICT rankings, the Global Forum on E-Government in 2014 with the participation of international experts in the field of information and communication technologies and development of e-government will be held in Astana in October next year.

The Global E-Government Forum was initiated by the United Nations in connection with the emergence of new global trends in the development of e-government (smart government) and was held for the first time in 2012 in Seoul.

This year, the forum is held in Korea along with the 7th International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance (ICEGOV) with the support of the United Nations.
