Kostanai region to increase production of iron ore concentrate

ASTANA. December 9. KAZINFORM /Damir Baimanov/ During the Friday telebridge Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has launched a technology section no.17 at the Sokolov - Sarbai Mining Production Association in Kostanai region.

Akim of the region Sergey Kulagin informed that the project's cost was KZT 7.3 billion. "With the implementation of this project the production of iron ore concentrate with iron content of 66% will be increased by 1.2 million tons. This will allow to produce over 18 million tons of iron ore concentrate per year. As a result the volume of exports to Russia and China will be increased," Kulagin noted.

"This is a new production, the products with high added value. I think both builders and operators are satisfied with the work. Thank you for this gift to the 20th anniversary of Independence," President Nazarbayev said.
