Kostanay region posts 3 cases of metapneumovirus

The region’s first cases of human metapneumovirus have been reported in Altynsarin and Kostanay districts as well as Rudny town, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.

16 confirmed cases of influenza A (H1N1) as well as 29 cases on non-influenza SARS viruses, including three cases of human metapneumovirus, have been recorded in Kostanay region since the start of the epidemic season.

Three metapneumovirus cases have been reported in Altynsarin and Kostanay districts as well as Rudny town.

The region saw four and one metapneumovirus cases in 2023 and 2024, respectively.

2,602 SARS cases, of which 53.57% in children under 14, have been posted in the region in the past week, a 2.1% increase. This adds up to total 62,000 cases in the region.

Earlier it was reported that metapneumovirus strains had been detected in Kazakhstan.
