Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development contributes to realization of Tajikistan's Roghun HPP
On December 18, 2024, the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan held a signing ceremony for a loan agreement between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development for the amount of 16,7 million US dollars for the implementation of the Rogun HPP project, Khovar reports.
This agreement was signed by the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Tajikistan — Qahhorzoda Faiziddin Sattor and the Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development — Walid Shimlon Al-Bahar.
It should be noted that the amount of financing provided by the Fund is 100,0 million US dollars, which will be allocated in 6 tranches, through separate agreements, in the amount of 16,7 million US dollars.
The project’s objective is to contribute to national energy security and support development in the Republic of Tajikistan by providing renewable electricity to meet local demand and expanding domestic and regional power generation by producing 3,600 MW of energy.
As earlier reported, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan agree to develop “green” energy, create joint ventures.
