Those initiating the bill were Speaker of the Zhogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Shakiyev and deputy Ulan Primov.

The MPs suggested changing the rays on the flag from wavy into straight ones, to avoid an ambiguity in the perception of the flag, which resembles a “sunflower”. Another line was added to tunduk (backbone part of a yurt, through which sunlight enters into the dwelling) in the center of the sun.

The authors of the flag were attracted to developing the new design of the flag.

66 out of 88 deputies supported the bill.

President Sadyr Zhaparov backed this initiative.
