On Monday the Kyrgyz Election Committee announced the final results of the country's parliamentary elections held on October 10. A total 29 parties competed for 120 seats in the parliament. Five parties received enough votes to win seats in parliament.

The move will delay an issuance of mandates to the elected MPs.

"A registration of deputies and an issuance of mandates will be held after consideration of all claims," Sariyev said. "We cannot say exactly when the mandates will be issued to the deputies. All decisions will be taken in accordance with a courts' decisions."

The newly elected Kyrgyz Parliament is expected to start working on Friday.

The polls were the first parliamentary elections in the Central Asian country since the overthrow of former President Kurmanbek Bakiyev, who was ousted in violent uprisings in April. The country approved a constitutional reform in June, which significantly increased the powers of parliament.

The new parliament will elect a prime minister by a majority vote. The premier will govern the nation, while the president will act as more of a figurehead.

International observers said the October elections were the cleanest and most democratic in the history of the country; Kazinform cites RIA Novosti.
